The Strategic Small Business Sourcer is a high-impact, front-end supply chain builder responsible for aggressively developing and positioning a national network of high-performing small business partners that directly increases M.C. Dean’s probability of winning and executing complex federal projects. This role is not transactional procurement—it is a proactive, outward-facing 'hunter' role focused on building a competitive advantage through supplier intelligence, speed, and depth. The Sourcer identifies, qualifies, and develops small businesses aligned to M.C. Dean’s core project types (mission critical facilities, data centers, energy infrastructure, secure federal environments, and complex electrical/mechanical systems). Sitting within the Purchasing Service Center, this role operates in tight coordination with the Federal Small Business Planner but is clearly differentiated: the Planner owns strategy, compliance, and proposal integration, while the Sourcer owns market development, pipeline creation, and supplier readiness.

Build a deep bench of small business partners across all socio-economic categories (SB, SDB, WOSB, HUBZone, SDVOSB)

Coordinate with Purchasing to ensure sourced partners can be effectively onboarded and utilized
Support supplier onboarding processes and compliance requirements
Align sourcing efforts with procurement standards and vendor management practices
Track supplier performance feedback and refine sourcing strategies
Maintain awareness of industry trends, certifications, and regulatory changes impacting small businesses
