Job Description:

Are you a highly skilled CNC Sliding Head Lathe Programmer Operator ready to take your expertise to the next level? We’re looking for a detail-oriented, hands-on machinist who thrives in a high-precision environment to join our dynamic team and support both production and R&D.

Job Responsibility:

  • Programming, setting, and operating CNC Sliding Head lathes using CAD/CAM or direct console input
  • Interpreting complex engineering drawings and applying geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Producing high-precision components for production and R&D use
  • Optimising machining programs and resolving production issues
  • Carrying out quality checks using appropriate inspection tools
  • Supporting the wider machine shop, including use of other CNC machinery as needed
  • Performing hand-finishing tasks and unloading components
  • Participating in TPM activities and maintaining a clean, safe work environment
  • Collaborating with and mentoring colleagues to share knowledge and best practices

Requirements:

  • Experience of working in a manufacturing environment operating CNC machinery is essential
  • Experience operating CNC Sliding Head lathes with Fanuc controls is desirable but not essential
  • Previous CNC programming and machining experience would be advantageous
  • Hands-on, practical approach to machining tasks
  • High level of mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Positive, can-do attitude with a focus on quality and continuous improvement

Nice to have:

  • Experience operating CNC Sliding Head lathes with Fanuc controls
  • Previous CNC programming and machining experience
