Job Description

The Sleep Technologist performs all types of sleep disorder testing, including set-up and performance of nocturnal polysomnograms (NPSGs) for both research and clinical purposes on all age groups, and may function as a nighttime lead tech, training technicians and ensuring proper functioning of the lab at night. In addition, this individual documents routine observations including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedures, and significant events in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results. Demonstrates working knowledge of polysomnography, Multiple Sleep Latency Tests (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Testing (MWT), oximetry and administration of supplemental O2, Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP and/or BPAP) studies, and the basics of Sleep Medicine, and recognizes cardiac arrhythmia.

Requirements

  • Must be a college graduate (2 or 4 year program
  • major in Sleep Medicine preferred but not required)
  • 5 years of experience associated with a state licensed and/or a nationally accredited educational facility or equivalent experience and documented proficiency at all competencies required of a Polysomnographic Technician
  • Certification - or eligibility for certification - by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists, as a Registered Polysomnographic Technician, is preferred but not required
  • Maintains current CPR /BCLS certification
  • Obtains and maintains CITI certification
