Determines final testing parameters/procedures in conjunction with the ordering physician or clinical director and laboratory protocols
Reviews patient's history and verifies medical order

When patient arrives, verifies identification, collects documents and obtains consent for the study
Explains the procedure and orients patient for in center sleep testing

Follows 'lights out' procedures to establish and document baseline values
Performs data acquisition while monitoring study-tracing quality to ensure signals are artifact-free
Identifies, corrects and documents artifact
Documents routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and other significant events
Implements appropriate interventions, including actions necessary for patient safety and therapeutic intervention
Follows 'lights on' procedures to verify integrity of collected data and complete the data collection process
Scores sleep/wake stages by applying professionally accepted guidelines
Scores clinical events, such as respiratory events, cardiac events, limb movements, arousals, etc. utilizing American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) standards
Generates accurate reports by tabulating sleep/wake and clinical event data

Assists the medical director, clinical director and/or manager in all aspects of sleep center operations
Reviews and evaluates sleep studies and provide appropriate feedback to staff as requested
Precepts staff on new skills, such as performing titration studies, new equipment, or quality assurance initiatives
Provides educational experiences at the lab through orientation of new staff and/or presenting evidenced based education for sleep lab staff
Requirements
Associate's degree in Polysomnography Technologist and 2 years experience in polysomnographic testing
Or equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide age specific care in the treatment, assessment, and education as appropriate
Knowledge and skills necessary to perform portable monitoring equipment preparation and data download if appropriate
Adherence to cleaning and disinfection procedures
Adherence to AASM scoring parameters
identify artifact, inadequate signals and equipment failures and generate an accurate report
