We are seeking an inspiring Qualified SEN Teacher to join a wonderful SEN School in Felixstowe. This is a full-time, long-term role for a practitioner who thrives in high-support settings, working with pupils who have SLD, complex communication needs, and associated sensory processing challenges. Job Responsibility:
Curriculum Customisation: Design and implement highly individualised learning programs
Communication Advocacy: Lead a 'Total Communication' classroom, seamlessly integrating Makaton, PECS, and AAC devices
Progress Tracking: Utilise specialised 'small-steps' assessment frameworks to record and celebrate development toward Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets
Positive Regulation: Create a low-arousal, highly structured environment that priorities emotional safety and utilises Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies
Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a dedicated team of Teaching Assistants
Multidisciplinary Partnership: Collaborate with onsite therapists, families, and external agencies
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Pedagogical Versatility: A deep understanding of-or a strong desire to master-frameworks like Attention Autism (The Bucket Time), TEACCH, and Sensory Stories
Resilient Compassion: The ability to remain a calm, co-regulating presence during challenging moments
Inclusive Advocacy: A genuine drive to ensure your students are treated with dignity
Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one via Randstad)
