Job Description

This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit's Commercial Business Units ('Spirit Commercial'). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes. Spirit Commercial's core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions. Location: Wichita, KS.

Job Responsibility

  • Bring exterior skin surface back to engineering requirements using a variety of tools to correct skin imperfections
  • Abrading/Burnishing to remove imperfections in the exterior skin
  • Perform any pickup, touchup, rework, non-conformance, part mark and incorporation of changes to the product as required
  • Utilize precision measuring equipment to perform self-inspection of in-process and finished work
  • Perform routine minor machine maintenance as part of daily work duties
  • Routinely move product within the shop-defined area using shop assigned equipment
  • Minor hand form experience on detail skins using rubber mallets, nylon bunches, and bean bags
  • Maintain required certifications, licenses, permits, and qualifications as needed
  • Ensure compliance with applicable processes

Requirements

  • Precision sanding skills with 2 years' experience with in line die grinder, 90 degree die grinder, orbital sander, jitterbug
  • Willing and able to work any shift including alternative work weeks
  • Must pass the WorkKeys Assessment or provide verification

Nice to have

  • 5 years experience in aircraft industry blending detail parts, fabricated skins, or in sheet metal
  • 5 years experience in hand form
