Job Description

As our Skills Coach in Early Years, you will induct, coach, review, mentor, monitor and track learners on apprenticeship programmes, on employers’ premises, on-site at the college and working remotely. The post will involve contributing to the delivery, assessment and progress of learners on their apprenticeship programmes to ensure they have the appropriate skills for a life of work. The post holder will be expected to deliver apprenticeship standards and will be responsible for coaching learners to achieve skills, behaviours and knowledge to pass their apprenticeship to a distinction level wherever possible.

Job Responsibility

  • Providing appropriate support, information and guidance to a caseload of apprentices
  • Delivering coaching, mentoring, teaching, learning and assessment on apprenticeship programmes to meet the needs of our employers and apprentices to the standards set by awarding bodies and end point assessment organisations
  • Regularly reviewing and monitoring apprentices progress on their apprenticeship programme through the use of our online e-portfolio system, ensuring completion and achievement of all elements to ensure apprentices successfully pass-through gateway and end point assessment is taken and passed timely
  • Ensuring that relationships with our employers are excellently maintained and they uphold their requirements as an apprenticeship employer
  • Individualising programmes to meet the diverse needs of employers to ensure apprentices develop new skills, knowledge and behaviours relevant to their industries
  • Embedding maths and English into everyday delivery to ensure all apprentices develop the necessary level of maths and English to be successful in their field
  • Participating as a full member of the delivery team and contributing to the development, promotion, high-quality delivery of programmes including involvement in standardisation and quality improvement meetings
  • Working with the employer engagement team to identify potential new apprentices and employers

Requirements

  • Relevant level 3 or above qualification in occupational area or equivalent
  • Maths & English to at least level 2 (or to be achieved within 6 months)
  • Assessor qualifications (Will consider applicants without)
  • Substantial experience in a relevant occupational area
  • Recent & relevant experience of assessing in the workplace
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment, autonomously & the ability to work to deadlines & meet targets
  • Knowledge of local business within the geographical area in the relevant occupational sector
  • Knowledge of the Apprenticeship Funding rules & Apprenticeship Levy
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Strong IT skills
  • Full driving licence & ability to travel to locations to support learning & assessment
