As a Lead Carpenter at Kiwi Newton Construction LLC, you will play a key role in supporting finishing and installation work across an active commercial construction site. This position requires a well-rounded tradesperson who can handle a variety of carpentry and installation tasks while also stepping in to solve more complex field challenges when needed. Working closely with site supervisors and other trades, you will contribute to maintaining quality, efficiency, and progress on site through your craftsmanship and problem-solving abilities. This role is ideal for a dependable, detail-oriented carpenter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering clean, precise work.
Job Responsibility:
Hang and install commercial steel and wood doors, ensuring proper alignment and operation
Install door hardware, including hinges, closers, locks, and panic devices
Perform a variety of general carpentry tasks across the job site as required
Install pipe bollards, louvers, and cement board in accordance with project specifications
Assist with layout adjustments and problem-solving, including helping to level precast
Support site teams with miscellaneous carpentry and installation tasks to maintain project progress
Read and interpret drawings and specifications to complete work accurately
Inspect completed work to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with project standards
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding progress and site conditions
Use and maintain hand and power tools safely and efficiently
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Commercial Carpenter or Skilled Carpenter
Strong experience with door installation, hardware fitting, and finishing work
Ability to perform a wide range of carpentry tasks with minimal supervision
Experience installing cement board, louvers, and similar components
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to assist with more technical site challenges
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Comfortable working in an active commercial construction environment
OSHA 10 or 30 certification considered an asset
Reliable, self-motivated, and team-oriented
Nice to have:
