Job Description

Skilled Fitter – Aerospace Structures. Morson Edge are recruiting for Skilled Fitters to support a major Aerospace Wing Assembly programme based in Filton. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Aerospace Fitters to join a high-volume, precision manufacturing environment, working on metallic aircraft structures to strict quality and safety standards. You will operate as a multi-skilled and flexible Aircraft Fitter, carrying out a range of structural assembly tasks on metallic aircraft components within a Wing Assembly environment. All candidates will be required to attend a metallic structures trade test at the Filton site, covering drilling, riveting, countersinking and bolting. This is a strong opportunity for Skilled Fitters looking for ongoing contract work within a well-established Aerospace manufacturing programme.

Job Responsibility

  • Percussion riveting
  • Drill, ream and countersink panels using Vanmar tooling
  • Set aircraft structures in build jigs
  • Deburring and fettling using approved setting tools
  • Localised treatment touch-up on aluminium structures
  • Operation of CNC pillar drills (DONAU)
  • Ensure right-first-time build and adherence to quality standards
  • Clear work phases accurately using SAP
  • Highlight non-conformances to the Process Team Leader
  • Maintain housekeeping and comply with Health & Safety requirements

Requirements

  • Level 3 indentured apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 with 3–5 years Aerospace experience
  • Previous experience in an Aircraft Production or Aerospace Manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work to standard operating procedures
  • Comfortable working in small teams with Process Team Leaders
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Self-motivated with good communication skills
