Arriva plc is seeking a highly skilled and experienced engineer to contribute to the maintenance and improvement of our diverse fleet and infrastructure. Job Responsibility:
Perform complex diagnostic and repair work on a wide range of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems within our fleet (e.g., buses, trains) and associated infrastructure
Lead and mentor junior engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance and support on intricate issues
Develop and implement preventative maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and optimize asset longevity
Conduct thorough inspections and testing of equipment to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards
Analyze technical data and fault reports to identify root causes of failures and propose effective solutions
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, safety, and procurement, to enhance overall system performance
Contribute to the design and implementation of engineering modifications and upgrades
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used
Adhere strictly to all health and safety policies and procedures
Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, or related field) or equivalent vocational qualifications with extensive relevant experience
Demonstrable experience (typically 5+ years) in a hands-on engineering role, preferably within the transport, heavy machinery, or similar industrial sectors
Proven expertise in diagnosing and rectifying complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults
Strong understanding of relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices
Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and collaborate effectively
