Our client Scottish Power Transmissions are currently recruiting for a Site Supervisor to join their team based at their Torness site on a contract basis initially. Ideally for this role they are looking for an experienced Site Supervisor/Site Manager with a Civils background. For more information on this role see below: This role is an exciting opportunity to work on Eastern Green Link 1 (EGL1) the first east coast HVDC link, a £2.5bn construction project. The Site Supervisor is a key role within the Scottish Power Transmission HVDC Business, focussing on the delivery of large-scale projects in the UK. Belonging to the HVDC team and reporting to the Convertors Project Manager, the role of Site Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the site-based construction activities carried out by the PC across the project are efficiently managed in accordance with company policies and procedures. Overseeing/monitoring the works are complying with company and business specialist technical standards and technical acceptance criteria, ensuring quality, best practices and excellent H&SE performance are applied. To act as subject matter expert across one or more of the following disciplines: Earthworks, civil construction, Substations, Building Services, Cabling and or Tunnelling.
Job Responsibility
Ensure the Works are carried out in accordance with SPT quality, environmental and technical requirements and ensure Principal Contractor/Contractor is made aware of any Works deemed non-compliant
Work as a member of the project team and will report to appointed Project Manager
Will attend all site/progress meetings as necessary
Monitor all Works activities on behalf of Client, advise Project Manager of any programme and Works risks and any remedial steps taken/need to be taken by the Principal Contractor/Contractor
Maintain a daily diary of Works
Complete a weekly site report to record progress of the Works for each Contractor including delays, site conditions, weather, contractor's plant, current work being undertaken, abnormal events, 3rd Party interfaces etc and submit to Project Manager
Attend/carry out weekly site safety audits and ensure any/all issues arising are dealt with by the Principal Contractor/Contractor in a timely manner
Review any site/contractor interface issues and ensure appropriate co-ordination is maintained by all contractors/sub-contractors involved in the Works
Liaise with SPT land & Planning team and ensure grantors charter requirements are met
Maintain an up to date drawing record of all Works in progress
Ensure contractors are working to 'For Construction' drawings as necessary
Ensure that any/all required sites tests are carried out and that all test results are recorded, examined, and where necessary steps are taken to remedy any non-conformance
Provide comments on Contractor site quality plans, annotating the hold and witness points, compliance checking etc and monitor completion
Ensure Contractor has adequate induction and emergency procedures in place, is logging staff attendance and all access/egress points to site are satisfactory and are being maintained
Ensure that the Principal Contractor/Contractor has made reasonable provision for health, safety and welfare at site as necessary
Review and provide comments on Contractor site specific [not generic] method statements and risk assessments as necessary
Report any safety related incident, near miss or environmental incident to the Project Manager in a timely manner
Fully support Principal Designer role as necessary
Requirements
Minimum of 5 years' experience working in a Clerk of Works role (or similar), mainly focussed on Civil works, but not exclusively
Relevant and recent experience of working with SP Transmission projects, or with other Electricity network operators i.e. SSE or NGC
Working knowledge of CDM Regulations and specific key roles
Full and clean driving licence and access to vehicle for travel and access to/from site
