Job Description:

Pivotal role where contributions directly impact safety and welfare of students and staff; Creating safe, secure, and welcoming environment where education can thrive; Overarching responsibility for school grounds and buildings; Balance strategic responsibilities with practical, hands-on maintenance work; Lead and inspire site team and liaise with external cleaning and grounds maintenance personnel

Job Responsibility:

  • Security & Safety: Act as designated key holder and ensure security of site including management of CCTV and alarm systems
  • Champion safety by producing risk assessments and ensuring compliance with Fire Safety regulations
  • Maintenance & Improvement: Undertake general repairs, redecoration, and minor plumbing or electrical works
  • Oversee external contractors to ensure work is completed to required standard
  • Leadership: Plan and manage time of site staff, overseeing recruitment, appraisals, and development
  • Operations: Manage efficient operation of heating, lighting, and plant systems
  • Facilitate school lettings and provide support for school performances and exams

Requirements:

  • Background in building/site maintenance with ability to forward plan and solve problems
  • Considerable DIY experience (minor maintenance, plumbing, decorating, etc.)
  • Ability to lead a team, prioritize work, and meet challenging deadlines
  • Competence in using ICT (Google Docs and Google Sheets) for record-keeping
  • Ability to manage budgets
  • Willingness to work flexibly to respond to urgent requests
  • Undertake driving of the minibus as required
  • Understanding of safeguarding issues and commitment to child welfare
