Job Description

Ensure delivery of site targets for all departments within the Site, in terms of sales & profitability through the effective management of all store operations, i.e. Supermac’s & Papa John's, Convenience Shop, and Forecourt. In addition, management of personnel, quality, cleanliness, merchandising, local store marketing, and cost management.

Job Responsibility

  • Ensure delivery of site targets for all departments within the Site, in terms of sales & profitability through the effective management of all store operations, i.e. Supermac’s & Papa John's, Convenience Shop, and Forecourt
  • The recruitment, training, and development of high-quality personnel for all departments within the store
  • Overseeing rostering and general management of personnel to ensure adequate cover within budgetary provisions, whilst maintaining quality service to our customers in all areas of the store and across all offerings/brands
  • Plan and organise all aspects of the operation to include all Fuel, Food (Hot & Cold – all brands), Retail (Convenience Shop), together with ancillary offerings on site provided to the customer
  • In the absence of a Manager, taking the leading role, overseeing operations, and leading by example
  • Managing the overall performance of the site, and driving operations to ensure this store is maximised
  • Merchandising professionally, using planograms where necessary to maximize space and offerings
  • Manage the performance of the team utilising effective performance management techniques in line with labour law
  • Continually communicate with Managers regarding objectives and store performance
  • Setting goals for the store to ensure effective customer service and competitiveness
  • Developing and implementing a plan for the store, communicating the plan, and achieving objectives
  • Where applicable, generating financial reports, analysing same, and reporting any discrepancies to the relevant department/Managing Director
  • Management of cash handling, implementing safe and appropriate processes and procedures, following up and reporting discrepancies
  • Setting and achieving budgets for the store
  • Ensure overheads are controlled and minimised where appropriate
  • Ensure store sales are maximised, together with customer numbers and average spending
  • Ensure department margins are managed appropriately and the profitability of each department is maximised
  • Ensure the operation runs efficiently and smoothly
  • Ensure store standards are consistently improved in terms of housekeeping, merchandising, presentation, and service
  • Plan for market changes and demands as they arise
  • Ensure in-store promotions are managed appropriately
  • Ensure policies and procedures are implemented and managed within the store
  • Manage cash handling in line with company cash handling procedures and take action on any discrepancies that arise
  • Manage store merchandising ensuring appropriate image is portrayed in line with company procedures
  • Accountable for ensuring consistently high levels of customer service
  • Ensure all customer complaints are dealt with appropriately
  • To take necessary action in store improvements following customer complaints
  • Manage personnel, recruitment, training, procedures, and effectiveness
  • Manage safety systems for both customers and staff to ensure optimum health and safety is in operation at all times
  • Report all accidents and near misses to Head Office as per procedures
  • Ensure effective stock control systems are in place
  • Preparation for and management of stock take
  • Ensure effective stock control procedures are in place to minimise stock loss
  • Ensure effective food management and waste systems are implemented, managed, and updated appropriately
  • Identify areas of stock leakage and ensure effective systems are in place to minimise stock loss (e.g. through pilferage, wastage, and damages)
  • Ensure effective stock rotation and stock monitoring systems are in place and adhered to
  • Take full care of the Health & Safety of all personnel and customers in-store and ensure any risks are minimised, or where possible, eliminated
  • Ensure Forecourt Health & Safety procedures are in place and operational at all times
  • Ensure security of store and personnel is maintained at all times
  • Take relevant action on security issues as and when they arise
  • Ensure secure opening and closing procedures
  • Ensure the store operates within relevant legislation in terms of labour law, health, and safety law, HACCP, and sale of goods including alcohol and tobacco regulations
  • Ensure you are up to date on all aspects of Health & Safety legislation, HACCP, Labour Law, and Consumer Legislation and take relevant actions that may arise out of changes in same
  • Meet targets as agreed
  • To undertake other additional duties as may be assigned by the company
