This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing safety policies and procedures on project sites to ensure compliance with local regulations and company standards. You will be responsible for conducting daily safety inspections, preparing risk assessments and safety documentation, and coordinating with local authorities on health and safety matters. This role is key in promoting a safe work environment by identifying hazards, providing training, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols. This role requires strong knowledge of Malaysian safety regulations, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work closely with project teams to resolve safety issues effectively. Promote a culture of safety and continuously improve health and safety performance. They will be required to conduct: deliver inductions, briefings & training, perform audits, investigate incidents, and engage with stakeholders to promote a safe working environment.
Job Responsibility:
Developing, implementing and enforcing safety policies within the project site
Prepare documents including a safe work method statement, height mitigation plan, logistic plan, fire safety, road safety and pandemic cases and risk assessment plan, etc.
Conduct daily safety inspections at the project site to ensure inspections of work areas, machinery, tools, and safety equipment follow local legal regulations
Identify unsafe conditions and practices
propose corrective and preventive actions
Coordinate with local authorities such as DOSH, JKKP or CIDB, etc, on matters relating to safety and health issues
Provide advice to management on legal changes
Report incidents to the authorities of any occupational accidents and diseases
Conduct toolbox meetings and safety inductions for all workers and subcontractors, including education on safe work practices, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) usage and emergency procedures
Stop unsafe work activities immediately and report to the management
Conduct safety training and awareness programs for employees to promote a culture of safety
Working closely with the project team to resolve safety issues
Maintain project/s records and statistics on safety performance and report on health and safety metrics
Work in collaboration with key internal stakeholders, customers, clients, and operational project managers on all aspects of H&SE to identify opportunities for improved efficiencies and provide recommendations on best practices
Represent the business, upholding our core values and behaviours with all internal and external customers, clients and third parties
Maintain business and client confidentiality, adhering to applicable Data Protection regulations and Information Security Standards in line with company and group policies and procedures.
Requirements:
Diploma / Degree in Environment and Occupational Health recognised by the Department of Safety Health (DOSH)
Minimum 5 years’ experience and above working experience as a site safety coordinator in the Construction industry, preferably in a data centre
Registered with the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) / Candidate with (Green book) would be an advantage
Familiarity with OSHA 1994, FMA 1967, CIDB requirements, and local regulations
Competent to conduct safety trainings, toolbox talks, safety inductions and incident investigations
Computer literate and good communication skills. Proficiency in IT skills, including the Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, MS Project, and PowerPoint)
Language & Communications Skills: Fluent in Malay – written & oral. English – written & oral. Mandarin – oral.
