Job Description

Our client, an established leader in the manufacturing and installation of industrial racking systems and mezzanines, is looking for a high-performing Site Foreman. This is a "boots-on-the-ground" leadership role based in the Calgary region, focused on the successful execution of complex structural steel and custom fabrication projects. You will be the primary driver of site progress, ensuring that all installation activities align with rigorous quality standards and provincial safety regulations.

Job Responsibility

  • Crew Management: Directly supervise and schedule the daily activities of welders, installers, and laborers to hit project milestones
  • Safety Leadership: Serve as the designated Site Safety Lead, conducting hazard assessments (FLHAs) and delivering safety training to maintain a zero-injury environment
  • Technical Execution: Accurately interpret shop drawings and blueprints to guide the installation of industrial handrails, mezzanines, and racking
  • Operational Liaison: Coordinate with project managers and other trades to establish efficient work methods and maintain the master schedule
  • Quality & Logistics: Resolve structural issues on-site while managing tool requisitions, equipment health (lifts, cranes), and daily progress reporting

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience specifically within industrial or construction environments
  • Proven hands-on experience in the installation and assembly of structural steel
  • Expert-level proficiency in reading structural plans and technical drawings
  • Fit for heavy lifting, working at heights, and performing in extreme outdoor weather conditions
  • Strong English proficiency with the ability to lead daily meetings and complete detailed site documentation

  • Actively work alongside your team installing structural steel framing (columns, beams, joists, decking) and precast concrete components (panels, stairs, beams, wall systems)
  • Oversee bolt-up and connection work, including torquing and tensioning procedures
  • Perform and supervise field welding (SMAW, FCAW, etc.)
  • Read and interpret structural drawings, erection plans, shop drawings, and connection details
  • Ensure proper layout and alignment of steel using levels, lasers, and total stations
  • Coordinate rigging and direct crane operations, including critical picks and tandem lifts
  • Review lift plans and understand load charts for mobile, tower, and rough-terrain cranes
  • Conduct daily safety meetings (Toolbox Talks) and enforce fall protection and steel erection safety standards
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, including Subpart R steel erection standards
