Job Description:

The purpose of this role is to provide site engineering duties to several projects within the region. The Site Engineer will establish the level and survey control for contracts and set out detailed works per the contract drawings, ensuring that checks are made regularly.

Job Responsibility:

  • Promote the Cardinal Rules and establish safe working cultures and practices
  • Comply with company procedures and legal obligations
  • Promote and comply with environmental compliance
  • Deliver the works safely
  • Promote best practice
  • Ensure work is delivered defect/snag-free
  • Endeavour to spot and highlight value engineering opportunities
  • Ensure that records are accurate and comply with organisational and legal requirements
  • Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise
  • Produce procurement schedules for the jobs and liaise with our procurement department
  • Produce ITPs and Task Briefings
  • Produce a 2-week look-ahead in conjunction with the Site Agent
  • Produce Site Diaries and Allocation Sheets
  • Develop good working relationships with the site workforce and the customers technical representative

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in setting out on civil engineering projects
  • Sound knowledge of construction methods, health and safety, and legal regulations
  • Fully conversant with the use of robotic total stations or EDM instruments
  • Degree qualified/HNC (or equivalent) in civil engineering
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a setting out role
  • Strong background in heavy civil engineering works is essential
  • Competent with GPS, Total Station, AutoCAD and digital setting out tools
  • NVQ Level 4 (or above) in Construction Site Supervision, Civil Engineering or related field - essential
  • Valid UK driving licence

Nice to have:

  • Experience in using AutoCAD and MS Office
  • Temporary-works co-ordination
  • CSCS card
  • Cable avoidance training
  • First aid training
  • NEBOSH or IOSH
  • Water sector experience preferred (clean or waste water)
  • Experience working within NEC-based contracts and multi-disciplinary teams is an advantage
  • SSSTS or SMSTS - preferred
  • First Aid at Work - desirable
