We at randstad are seeking a skilled and ambitious Site Engineer to join our project delivery team. Initially, you will be deployed on the complex and large-scale Manor Road NOS7 and NOS8 remediation packages for Thames Water. This high-profile scheme involves the critical repair and remediation of two bridge structures and five trunk sewer barrels spanning major rail and road networks. Currently in the design phase, this position offers a rare opportunity to be involved from project conception. Working within a collaborative team of Site Agents, Sub Agents, and engineers, you will help develop innovative engineering solutions, minimize risk, and optimize commercial performance. This role provides an excellent pathway to grow technically while gaining valuable insight into the management of project costs, programmes, and contracts.
Job Responsibility
Actively promote company Cardinal Rules to establish a zero-harm, safe working culture on-site
Ensure all site activities comply with legal obligations, company procedures, and strict environmental compliance frameworks
Support and collaborate with the wider project team in the development of site-specific HSQE documentation
Promote construction best practices to ensure all engineering works are delivered snag-free and right the first time
Continuously review site processes to identify and highlight value engineering opportunities
Assist in the production and implementation of project plans, Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
Establish precise level and survey controls across the contract
Set out detailed works strictly in accordance with contract drawings, executing regular, documented checks
Participate in preconstruction reviews, ensuring all required stakeholder consents, asset protections, and permits are fully secured prior to breaking ground
Maintain meticulous, legally compliant project records, including accurate Site Diaries, Allocation Sheets, drawing registers, and a comprehensive photographic record of ongoing works
Maintain sharp awareness of the contract's commercial performance
identify, quantify, and notify the management team of any potential variations
Collaborate with the Site Agent to produce short-term lookahead programmes for day-to-day resource management
Requirements
Proven track record of accurate setting out on complex civil engineering or heavy infrastructure projects
Fully conversant and highly proficient in the practical use of robotic total stations and electronic distance measurement (EDM) instruments
Degree or HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering
Sound, working knowledge of modern construction methods, health and safety legislation, and legal site regulations
Self-driven, results-oriented, and positive mindset with excellent written and verbal communication skills
Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK
