Job Description:

CK Group are recruiting for a Site Chemist, to join a waste management company, at their site in Middlesborough, on a permanent basis. A leading UK waste and resource management company, our client is part of a global group with a strong heritage in providing services for communities and businesses. Their aim is to be the environmental company of choice, delivering change for a sustainable future. The company's core business focuses on collection, resource recovery and renewable energy providing services for local authorities and commercial customers. They have a number of core services including municipal services, business waste solutions, recycling and green energy.

Job Responsibility:

  • Receipt, sampling, handling, bulking, segregation and storage of hazardous and non-hazardous solid and liquid wastes within the Waste Transfer Station compound
  • Receipt and inspection/analysis of non-hazardous solid wastes to confirm suitability for landfill disposal
  • Assisting the Transfer Station Manager with deciding on work priorities
  • Off-site waste classification, packaging and labelling for transport
  • Daily and weekly site safety checks
  • Maintaining necessary documentation and inspect wastes for conformity
  • Liaise and build great relationships with customers, brokers, third party waste outlets

Requirements:

  • HNC/HND/Degree in Chemistry (or equivalent CIWM qualification)
  • Knowledge & understanding of the hazards associated with chemical functional groups
  • Knowledge & understanding of the chemical hazards associated with COSHH symbols
  • Able to interpret safety data sheets
  • Full driving licence
  • 3 years hazardous waste management experience
