Job Description

A leading Tier 1 infrastructure contractor is seeking experienced Site Agents / Supervisors, from an engineering background to join a growing pipeline of resurfacing and highway improvement schemes across the National Highways Scheme Delivery Framework in the North West. With multiple projects already mobilised and further works entering delivery, these positions offer immediate starts and long-term opportunities across a well-established framework. You will take full ownership of site delivery across a range of motorway and trunk road schemes - managing safety, programme performance, subcontractors, and compliance with National Highways standards. You will act as the principal contractor's site representative and be capable of running a site independently through all phases of delivery.

Job Responsibility

  • Managing day-to-day site operations on resurfacing and highway maintenance schemes
  • Supervising plant, labour, and subcontractors
  • Monitoring programme delivery and site productivity
  • Managing permit systems, RAMS, inspections, and safety briefings
  • Maintaining site documentation and quality records
  • Ensuring compliance with National Highways standards throughout

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Site Agent / Supervisor
  • Strong highways and resurfacing background
  • Experience on motorway or major road schemes for a Tier 1 contractor
  • SMSTS, CSCS Card, National Highways Passport, Safety Critical Medical, First Aid at Work (3-Day), and full UK Driving Licence

  • Multidisciplinary Interfacing: Coordinate civil works with parallel engineering disciplines and specialist trades. Manage physical and logistical crossovers, ensuring structures are delivered in sequence for seamless system integration without interface delays
  • Planning & Programming: Plan on-site works, produce and update detailed 4-week lookahead programs, and actively feed progress data into the master Primavera P6 delivery program
  • Commercial Administration: Maintain strong commercial awareness
  • proactively identify project delays, track variations, and draft/raise Early Warning Notices (EWNs) under the contract
  • Technical Compliance: Review project drawings and specifications, raise Requests for Information (RFIs) and Technical Queries (TQs), and compose/review robust Safe Systems of Work (SSOW), including RAMS, ITPs, and permits
  • Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC): Act as the technical authority on-site for temporary works, utilizing your deep knowledge of requirements to coordinate closely with site teams and fulfill TWC duties
  • HSEQ Enforcement: Enforce absolute compliance with all HSEQ requirements specific to major civils delivery, including live services, lifting operations (LOLER/PUWER), excavations, and environmental constraints
