Job Description:

Barnsley Hospitals Orthopaedic Elective Ward now has a Band 6 Sister/Charge nurse vacancy for a permanent full-time position. We are a 19 bedded ward delivering care to elective patients ranging from day cases to major joint replacement surgeries. Ultimately, we assist patients in their recovery alongside Medics and Therapists to achieve their optimal level of independence and safe discharge home.

Job Responsibility:

Support and deputise for the Lead Nurse by managing and co-ordinating the day-to-day function of the ward
Act as ward representative in the absence of the Lead Nurse
Responsible for maintaining the provision of outstanding nursing care, effective staff management, staff and student education and development
Be a clinical resource for staff, patients and visitors
Prioritise and delegate your own and the teams workload to meet the demands of multiple theatre lists and in-patient care
Develop teaching and mentoring skills
Lead on particular clinical areas
Support students and newly qualified nurses

1st level registered nurse
Educated to diploma level (or working towards)

Evidence of relevant post registration education and development
Significant experience at band 5 in speciality
