With minimum direction and considerable latitude for independent judgement the Simulation Technician is responsible for maintaining the simulation, lab, and experiential learning spaces with the School of Nursing Experiential Learning Center (ELC) and supporting the initiatives and goals as defined by the Director & Assistant Director of Simulation.
Job Responsibility:
Maintaining the simulation, lab, and experiential learning spaces
Running high-fidelity human patient simulators
Overseeing standardized patients
Assisting with VR simulations
Coordinating key support functions for the daily operation of the simulation, skills lab, and experiential leaning areas
Supporting faculty during simulation and lab sessions
Assisting as directed with simulation support in collaboration with SMD and Dept of Anesthesiology
Assists team members and supports instructors during course activities
Provides on-site preparation and assistance to Standardized Patients during simulation events and Objective Structured Clinical Examinations
Coordinates lab equipment and activities, ensuring smooth setup and takedown of medical equipment and supplies
Assists students and faculty with virtual reality simulations
Prepares simulation scenario supplies, props, and room equipment
Responsible for startup and shutdown of simulation equipment, including adding and removing moulage to manikins
Operates high-fidelity human patient simulators using formalized scripting and cues
Oversees recording of simulation events and troubleshoots technical issues
Provides technical support and consultation to faculty for patient simulators, associated computers, software, and medical technology
Ensures safe use of equipment by students, educators, and external users
Demonstrates proper operation of simulation equipment and technology
Provides technical assistance before, during, and after labs
Maintains a simulation scenario case library
Ensures all resources, inventory, and setups are optimized for effective simulation experiences
Keeps rooms fully stocked with supplies
Set-up, take-down and re-stocking of skills lab
Maintaining skills lab equipment
Supporting students and lab faculty as needed with any supplies or set-ups
Requirements:
Associate's degree in Audio-Visual Technology or technical or health-related field
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage details
3 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience in using information technology
Prior experience working in simulation, an academic or healthcare environment, and experience working with medical equipment preferred
Manage time and multiple projects in a complex environment with a positive and creative attitude
Close attention to detail, ability to meet inflexible deadlines, remain calm during difficult situations, work under pressure, and work with frequent interruptions
Demonstrate a willingness to work cooperatively in an evolving technological environment
