Job Description:

Based in Brisbane, the Signalling Designer plays a crucial role in delivering high quality engineering and design services across projects. This role supports successful project delivery by providing technical input and guidance while assisting and mentoring subordinate staff involved in project activities.

Job Responsibility:

  • Design Signalling Engineering systems for Asset Renewal and Customer Program
  • Ensure engineering designs meet business requirements and align with industry best practice
  • Plan and organise technical aspects of engineering projects under guidance, including design activities, user requirements, material and component specifications, and safety in design for new and modified works
  • Identify opportunities for improved processes and standards, and contribute to the development and implementation of new standards, specifications, and work practices

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification or Advanced Diploma in Engineering, or an equivalent approved qualification
  • Strong capability in developing technical, design, construction, and maintenance engineering solutions, including the use of new technologies and techniques
  • Proven ability to operate and design with CAD software such as Microstation/AutoCAD
  • Experience in Railway Signalling Design
  • Confident communicator with the ability to work effectively with internal teams, external providers, suppliers, regulators, users, and trade staff
  • Proven ability to plan and deliver professional engineering work with minimal supervision, using sound judgement, initiative, and accountability for outcomes
  • Well developed interpersonal, written, consultation, and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated experience in the design of engineering systems, with a track record of solving problems and improving performance
