Job Description:

Applications are invited for the position of Signal Technician within the City of North Bay’s Public Works Division. Under the direction of the Roads and Traffic Supervisor, carries out electrical repairs and improvements at various City facilities and buildings. The incumbent is responsible for the maintenance, installation, and testing of all traffic control systems. Responsible for the efficient use and control of materials and equipment. Ensure the work is performed according to City Safety Policies and Procedures and Provincial Regulations, and Electrical Codes. Plans work and is responsible for acquiring materials to carry out the work.

Job Responsibility:

  • Carries out electrical repairs and improvements at various City facilities and buildings
  • Responsible for the maintenance, installation, and testing of all traffic control systems
  • Responsible for the efficient use and control of materials and equipment
  • Ensure the work is performed according to City Safety Policies and Procedures and Provincial Regulations, and Electrical Codes
  • Plans work and is responsible for acquiring materials to carry out the work

Requirements:

  • Two (2) years related experience as a Construction and Maintenance 309A Electrician or five (5) years’ experience as a Signal Technician
  • M.S.A. Level II Signal Technician Certification
  • Two (2) year college Electrical Technician diploma
  • Aerial Device training
  • Valid DZ Driver’s License
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and blueprints
  • Sufficient clerical ability to complete necessary reports, traffic protection plans, material requisitions, and daily activities’ diaries
  • Comprehensive knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including power supply, transformers, controllers, switches, pumps, and fixtures
  • Strong knowledge of traffic controllers and related equipment
  • Training in confined space entry
  • First Aid and C.P.R.
  • Must be available for on-call rotation
