Parrish & Heimbecker, Limited (P&H) has an opportunity for a motivated, forward-thinking, and dedicated individual as a Shunt for our Milling division based in Hanover, ON. We are seeking a reliable and experienced Shunt Driver to join our team. As a Shunt Driver, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently moving trailers and containers within our warehouse or distribution yard. This is a critical role that ensures the smooth flow of goods in and out of our facility.

Job Responsibility

  • Operate dry box or bulk tankers to move goods to designated parking spots or loading docks
  • Organize inventory by positioning trailers in a manner that facilitates efficient loading and unloading operations
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures while operating vehicles within the yard, including obeying speed limits and maintaining awareness of pedestrian and vehicle traffic
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of shunt trucks, reporting any mechanical issues or maintenance needs to supervisors
  • Communicate effectively with warehouse personnel, truck drivers, and other team members to coordinate trailer movements and ensure smooth operations
  • Complete necessary paperwork or electronic logs related to trailer movements, inventory counts, and vehicle inspections
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks on shunt trucks to keep them in good working order

Requirements

  • Possession of an Ontario Class AZ license along with a clear drivers abstract and medical in good standing
  • Minimum 5 years of driving experience is required or truck driving school graduate and 3 years of experience
  • Able to safely lift and carry up to 50lbs
  • Ability to work morning, afternoon, and evening start times per customer delivery requests
