Job Description

We are looking for a Shopify Migration & Platform Lead to own the delivery of our ecommerce platform transition to Shopify. This role sits at the intersection of Business, Product, and Technology, acting as the glue between commercial goals, customer experience, and technical execution. You will lead the end-to-end migration from multiple existing tools and platforms into a unified Shopify ecosystem, ensuring business continuity, scalability, and an improved customer and operational experience. This role requires strong Shopify knowledge, the ability to translate business needs into platform requirements, and enough technical understanding to work effectively with engineers, agencies, and third-party vendors—without necessarily writing code yourself.

Job Responsibility

  • Own the Shopify migration roadmap, from discovery and planning through launch and post-migration optimisation
  • Lead the transition from legacy ecommerce tools, CMSs, PIMs, ERPs, or custom solutions into Shopify (and Shopify Plus where applicable)
  • Identify risks, dependencies, and data integrity challenges related to migration (products, customers, orders, content, integrations)
  • Ensure minimal disruption to business operations during migration
  • Work closely with Commercial, Marketing, Operations, and Customer Support teams to understand requirements and priorities
  • Translate business objectives into clear Shopify capabilities and platform requirements
  • Act as the primary point of contact for ecommerce platform decisions
  • Support change management and onboarding for internal teams post-migration
  • Define and prioritise the ecommerce product backlog in line with business goals
  • Ensure a strong customer experience across web, mobile, checkout, and post-purchase journeys
  • Balance short-term migration needs with long-term platform scalability and optimisation
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, Shopify partners, and third-party vendors to deliver the platform
  • Understand and guide decisions around Shopify themes, apps, APIs, and custom development
  • Oversee integrations with systems such as ERP, CRM, payment providers, logistics, analytics, and marketing tools
  • Ensure best practices around performance, security, SEO, and accessibility

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on knowledge of Shopify (and ideally Shopify Plus)
  • Deep understanding of Shopify’s core platform capabilities, app ecosystem, theme architecture, checkout and payments, APIs and integrations
  • Experience delivering or supporting at least one Shopify migration or major replatforming
  • Solid understanding of ecommerce fundamentals: catalog management, pricing, promotions, checkout, fulfilment, and returns
  • Experience working with third-party ecommerce tools (e.g. CMS, PIM, ERP, CRM, headless setups)
  • Understanding of data migration concepts (products, customers, orders, content)
  • Experience working in product-led or agile environments
  • Ability to write clear requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria
  • Comfortable prioritising trade-offs between business value, time, and technical complexity
  • Able to speak confidently with engineers and vendors about APIs and integrations, custom vs off-the-shelf solutions, data models and system dependencies
  • Strong communicator able to bridge business and technical teams
  • Structured, delivery-oriented, and comfortable managing ambiguity
  • Stakeholder-savvy, with the ability to influence without authority
  • Pragmatic problem solver with a focus on outcomes, not tools
  • Comfortable working in fast-moving, transformation-driven environments

Nice to have

  • Experience with headless commerce or composable architectures
  • Familiarity with analytics, CRO, and ecommerce performance optimisation
  • Experience working with external Shopify agencies or systems integrators
  • Background in consulting, digital transformation, or scale-up ecommerce teams
