Job Description

The Shop Foreman 1 is a master technician who utilizes mechanical expertise to support the needs of the branch in a professional, safe, and timely manner. The individual in this role is responsible for the training, development, and management of all Mechanics, appraising their performances, and utilizing the most cost-effective means for maintenance and repair of the Company’s rental and service equipment. The Shop Foreman also ensures all service calls are handled in a professional and precise manner at the highest standards of quality.

Job Responsibility

  • Works with ethics, honesty, values, and integrity. Provides a position of professionalism to others
  • Develops a consistent schedule for Mechanics and Shop Hands to perform preventative maintenance on all Gravity-owned fleet
  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots all equipment including fuel systems, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and propane systems
  • Audits all required documentation, timesheets, checklists, receiving records, repair orders and maintenance logs in a timely manner
  • Manages and orders various parts for the equipment
  • Supervises the work area to ensure a clean and organized workspace
  • Trains, develops, and mentors all Mechanics and Shop Hands
  • Completes all monthly safety and equipment-related trainings
  • Answers Company-issued cell phone during on call hours, in accordance with Company and safety policies
  • Any other duty, responsibility or task as assigned by the supervisor

Requirements

  • High School or GED equivalent, some college preferred
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and able to maintain insurability with Company insurance
  • Expertise with detailed technical schematics, owner manuals, and product warning labels
  • Ownership of all tools necessary to complete complex and specialty repairs on equipment
  • Ability to operate and test equipment such as boom lifts, forklifts, compressors, portable and stationary generators, hydraulics, pumps and assorted tools and heavy equipment
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds required
  • Strong time management and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English to the extent they understand verbal and written instructions in English
  • Driver's License

  • Coordinate with other HEO Leads and Foremen within Fleet Operations to ensure department-wide goals and daily operations are met and department wide resources are used efficiently
  • Perform daily equipment checks and ensure that all safety and maintenance issues are reported to the Vehicle Maintenance Facility (VMF) daily via proper reporting methods and channels
  • Tracks equipment hours daily and notifies Fleet Operations Foreman/Traverse Shop Foreman any time equipment is within 25 hours of its PM due hours
  • Ensure all team members are properly trained and evaluated in the safe use of any piece of equipment prior to allowing that team member to use the equipment unsupervised
