Job Description:

We are currently supporting an international engineering client in the search for an experienced Shipyard Supervisor to support a short-term installation and integration project at a Japanese shipyard. The role involves supervising the onsite installation and integration of a large-scale mechanical and structural system onto a vessel. Responsibilities include coordination of component delivery, onsite supervision during assembly, and support through commissioning and sea trials.

Job Responsibility:

  • Act as the Client’s onsite representative at the shipyard
  • Facilitate communication between the Client’s team and shipyard personnel
  • Ensure all technical and quality requirements are properly implemented
  • Supervise delivery and inspection of major components
  • Report any damage or non-conformities
  • Organize appropriate temporary storage and ensure component traceability
  • Verify availability of manpower, lifting equipment, and tools
  • Participate in project kick-off meetings
  • Manage the detailed installation and integration schedule
  • Oversee system assembly operations on the quay
  • Supervise onboard installation of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Ensure compliance with installation standards and procedures
  • Maintain site cleanliness and safety standards
  • Support commissioning activities during quayside trials
  • Assist with system tuning and testing during sea trials
  • Ensure full traceability of installed components
  • Provide regular progress reports to the project and quality teams

Requirements:

  • Senior-level professional
  • Japanese nationality, or extensive professional experience in Japan with fluent Japanese
  • Minimum 5 years of shipyard operations experience in Japan
  • Strong background in marine hydraulics, deck machinery, or shipboard mechanical systems
  • Experience supervising installation projects from start to finish
  • Fluent English required (French is a plus)
