Reporting to the General Manager – Shipping, the Shipping Specialist will be responsible for developing, executing strategies and managing the import freight portfolio across all areas of the business. The role will also support the company’s export dry bulk activities, ensuring efficient and cost-effective vessel arrangements to meet business requirements.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and implement strategies for import freight services including custom’s clearance, aligned with operational and commercial goals
Assist the export dry bulk department, including vessel vetting, post fixture operations, and contract management
Conduct market analysis, demand forecasting, and supplier capability assessments to inform sourcing strategies
Identify opportunities for innovation, cost reduction, and value creation across international freight services
Design freight panels for key service categories (customs, airfreight, international courier, sea freight), ensuring coverage across all areas of the business
Regularly review and refresh panels to maintain competitiveness, diversity of supply, and alignment with operational needs
Define and monitor KPIs for supplier performance, cost savings, contract compliance, and service delivery
Identify and manage commercial risks, including insurance compliance, transport regulatory compliance issues, and supplier dependencies
Act as a trusted advisor, providing commercial insights to support decision-making
Requirements:
Relevant degree qualification is highly regarded
Proven experience in international freight, ideally within freight forwarding or custom’s experience
Strong understanding of various modes of transport and routes
Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage complex projects and influence senior stakeholder
Excellent negotiation, analytical and commercial acumen
Chinese and Mandarin is an added advantage
