The Shipping Lead works as part of the Shipping & Receiving Team, supporting day-to-day activities and objectives. The incumbent is the primary delegate and backup for the Shipping Manager position. The Johnstown Plant produces 252,000,000 litres/year of fuel, industrial, and beverage grade ethanol from corn, using an integrated dry milling, batch fermentation and continuous distillation and evaporation process.
Job Responsibility:
Within area of responsibility, develop, promote, and positively support goals and objectives in the areas of Safety, Environment, Product Quality and Consistency, Customer Service, ISO compliance, FSMA compliance, FSSC, ISCC compliance, Internal Supplier Relationships, and continuous improvement initiatives
Participates positively in and supports compliance of FSMA and any other food and feed safety standard
Participates, adheres to, and fully complies with, the Company’s Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures, and regulatory requirements
Primary responsibility for delegate/backfill for Shipping Manager during planned and unplanned absences
Provide departmental coverage support in both Grains and Alcohol areas during times of absence. Expectation to be fully cross-trained in both areas
Support department objectives to achieve health and safety, environment, quality, production/plant efficiency goals
Support the Shipping and Receiving function related to Corn, DDGS, MWDGS, WDGS, Technical Grade Alcohol, VHQ Grade Alcohol and import/export grades of alcohol at the plant level
Partner with Corn procurement to manage inventory – including weekly/hourly forecasting with corn purchaser/scheduler and bin sweep planning
Support the departmental responsibility for all equipment related to shipping and receiving. Reference site layout and description of areas
Primary resource for the planning and preparation for maintenance shutdown activities
Support departmental housekeeping activities, including planning and execution of necessary work
Support Incident Investigation and Resolution related to Environment, Safety, Quality and related matters within area of responsibility
Support the performance of the shipping/receiving area. Utilizes all resources available to prioritize and resolve technical issues and challenges that affect throughput, quality, or efficiency. This includes the effective use of Root Cause Analyses, Industry Consultants, PFMEA, VSM and all other resources that are deemed necessary
Works with the Department Staff to satisfy customer requirements of on time delivery of correct products
Actively support the facility ISO Program. Ensures compliance with standards, legislation, and other Management Systems

Requirements:
O.S.S.D. or Equivalent
Demonstrated equivalent work experience preferred
Ideally 1-3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
Related experience in grain handling, liquid product or chemical product handling is preferred
Mechanical ability would be an asset
Familiarity regarding heavy equipment (front end loader, rail mover) would be an asset
Ability to fulfill the physical requirements of the position, including but not limited to: ladder climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, working at heights (Silo is approx. 100 feet), work in a dusty environment
Proficiency with standard computer hardware and applications
