From Europe to the global stage, we are uniting governments, civil society, industry leaders, clean energy/technology developers and other progressive stakeholders to chart a course toward a carbon-free shipping sector. We are now seeking an experienced and visionary Shipping Director to lead our dynamic team.
Job Responsibility:
Leading T&E’s political strategy, including the EU and the International Maritime Organization (IMO), around shipping’s climate and environmental impact, focusing on sustainable fuels and technologies, carbon pricing, infrastructure deployment and clean vessels deployment
Further developing T&E’s advocacy strategy towards high-level EU, IMO and national regulators, politicians, and media, representing T&E at high-level meetings and events
Leading a growing team of policy, campaign, and analytical staff, overseeing their work professional development and guiding their work to achieve shipping teams and T&E’s priorities
Supporting the building and implementation of national strategies in key markets
Leading on fundraising for the team and the organization
Overseeing project management and ensuring reporting to funders
Coordinating policy positions and strategies with other Directors and Senior Directors at T&E
Leading and guiding the team in efforts to build partnerships with key industry players such as fuel suppliers, shipowners, and ports
Maintain and grow T&E’s media impact in key European and international media markets
Commissioning and delivery of impactful research
Requirements:
Be politically savvy with a proven record of developing and implementing policy strategy leading to change
Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams and managing complex projects
Five to seven years of relevant experience of managing projects and/or staff in either the Shipping sector or energy sector with a focus on EU or government advocacy, preferably on economic topics
Strong interpersonal and team-working skills, and a willingness to develop a network in the sector
Experience in budget management
Excellent coordination skills, with an ability to engage with, build and manage multi stakeholder coalitions
The confidence to think and act with initiative, to engage and influence policy-makers of different stripes, industry representatives and other stakeholders at the highest level
The ability and motivation to learn technical, economic and legal information, to independently develop new political, economic or legal arguments and evidence and use them to convince key stakeholders
Experience in strategic planning and policy analysis, with the ability to think critically and innovatively about the future of the shipping industry in Europe and beyond
