Our client, a leader in the metal manufacturing industry located in St. Thomas, Ontario, is seeking a dedicated Shipper to join their dynamic team. This is a pivotal role within the manufacturing & logistics department, ensuring that high-quality metal products reach their destination safely and on time. As a Shipper, you will be the final link in the production chain, responsible for maintaining the integrity of shipments and the accuracy of inventory data. In this manufacturing & logistics role, you will work a reliable Day Shift, providing an excellent work-life balance while contributing to a high-volume production environment. You will utilize your expertise in operating heavy machinery and digital inventory tools to keep operations fluid.
Job Responsibility:
Execute the accurate and timely loading, unloading, and checking of shipments, adhering strictly to documented manufacturing & logistics procedures
Safely operate a counterbalance forklift and pallet jack to efficiently manage incoming and outgoing materials and move skids within the warehouse
Manage material and inventory within the ERP system, performing precise data entry, tracking, and reconciliation for the manufacturing & logistics team
Utilize Excel proficiently for detailed inventory reporting, data analysis, and documentation
Verify and prepare all necessary shipping documents, including bills of lading and packing slips, ensuring compliance with industry standards
Conduct cycle counts and assist with physical inventory to maintain a high level of inventory control accuracy within the manufacturing & logistics facility
Work independently to prioritize daily shipping tasks and meet strict production and carrier deadlines
Collaborate effectively with production, logistics, and quality teams to ensure smooth material flow in the metal manufacturing facility
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, following all health and safety regulations pertinent to manufacturing & logistics
Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Shipper or in a similar manufacturing & logistics role
Proven experience operating a Counterbalance Forklift in an industrial setting
High school diploma or equivalent
additional certifications in logistics are a plus
Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and moving materials as required in a metal manufacturing environment
Reliable transportation to the worksite in St. Thomas, Ontario
Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to PPE requirements
Advanced proficiency in operating a Counterbalance Forklift (certification preferred)
Strong digital literacy, specifically with ERP software and Microsoft Excel for data management
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipping priorities simultaneously
Precise attention to detail when verifying part numbers, quantities, and shipping documentation
Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams in manufacturing & logistics
Problem-solving abilities to resolve discrepancies in inventory or shipping schedules
