Join a global leader in maritime classification and certification. We are looking for a ship surveyor to join our site in Papeete (Polynésie Francaise). Integrated within a team of experts, you will act as the technical reference and field expert on assignments aimed at verifying the technical compliance of ships with applicable standards.

Job Responsibility

  • Conduct surveys and inspections on board ships in service, assessing compliance with applicable regulations and Bureau Veritas requirements

Requirements

  • Higher education degree in naval construction or naval engineering, or former Merchant Navy officer

  • Responsible and oversee plan approval activities in Canada and U.S. Main point of contact with clients and external stakeholders (USCG, Transport Canada, engineering companies, etc.) for plan approval (PA) related issues and questions, as directed by the Client Technical Service (CTS) Manager. Compile and issue quotations for Local Plan Office (LPO) services – all disciplines (Hull, Machinery, Electricity/Automation, Fire & Safety, Stability) – in collaboration & cooperation with the North America Commercial Team. Develop strategy and action plan to work towards UPO independence to serve North America market needs without reliance on LPO network (to maximum extent allowable) – including design and implementation for necessary surveyor training & development, as driven by market segment growth. Daily management for the UPO team – procedures, tools, lean management, visual management, information, internal reporting, incl. necessary interactions and meetings with Head Office (HO) and the global Bureau Veritas network. Support the PA activity of other LPOs, when requested, and manage subcontracting within the LPO network for jobs outside UPO’s delegations. Oversee and manage UPO team qualifications according to internal quality procedures, qualifications, activity & report monitoring, etc. Attend internal and external meetings and workshops in connection with design review across all disciplines. Collaborate and support the North America Commercial Team with client PA-related inquiries and engage with client meetings/calls as required.
