Job Description

The Shift Team Leader reports to the Extrusion Manager and oversees all operational activities during their shift. This role ensures production efficiency, team productivity, and compliance with company procedures, health and safety standards, and quality expectations.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead, motivate, and supervise up to 20 production operators to maintain productivity and quality
  • Ensure production activities align with the production plan, procedures, and standards
  • Promote a safe working environment by enforcing health and safety rules and housekeeping standards
  • Ensure compliance with H.B. Fuller’s Quality and HSE policies, internal procedures, and work instructions
  • Execute the production plan and ensure accurate completion of SAP transactions
  • Conduct performance reviews, return-to-work meetings, and investigations related to quality or performance issues
  • Support operational excellence through continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with management to resolve operational challenges promptly

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a supervisory role within manufacturing
  • Previous experience as a Production Operator
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic computer applications
  • Ability to instruct and support team members across all responsibilities

Nice to have

  • Experience using SAP or similar production systems
  • Exposure to continuous improvement or lean manufacturing environments
  • Supervisory experience within chemical, adhesives, or related manufacturing industries
  • Strong conflict resolution and leadership skills

  • Ensure the facility operates in full compliance with environmental permits, design criteria and planning conditions
  • Maintain high standards of safety and housekeeping, communicating initiatives effectively
  • Ensure only compliant waste is processed and deal correctly with any non-conforming materials
  • Oversee the correct and timely processing of facility inputs and outputs
  • Produce detailed incident reports, shift logs and operational data
  • Conduct performance appraisals, coaching, and development of shift team members
