Job Description:

Join JD Sports as a Shift Operations Manager and lead our afternoon DC team, driving efficiency, motivating people, ensuring smooth operations, and delivering exceptional service to stores and online. This pivotal role is responsible for leading, coordinating, and optimising warehouse operations for our afternoon shift. You will lead a team of Shift Leaders and Supervisors, driving operational excellence, developing team capability, ensuring compliance and safety, and continuously improving efficiency and quality. You’ll be accountable for the performance of your shift, ensuring orders are fulfilled accurately and on time, automation is running smoothly, and your team remains motivated, engaged, and aligned to JD’s high standards. Our afternoon shift runs Monday to Friday, 2:30pm–10:30pm.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead and motivate your team to meet daily operational and service targets
  • Plan and allocate labour and resources to achieve productivity and quality goals
  • Ensure accurate and timely order fulfilment for both stores and online customers
  • Partner with technical and systems teams to maintain peak automation performance
  • Drive continuous improvement and support Lean practices across the site
  • Promote a proactive safety culture and ensure compliance with all WHS standards
  • Deliver accurate reporting on shift performance, productivity, and attendance
  • Support key business projects and initiatives as required

Requirements:

  • 5+ years’ experience in Warehouse or Manufacturing Management
  • Experience leading large operational teams in a high-volume environment
  • Knowledge of logistics and distribution within the retail or fashion industry
  • Experience working with automation equipment or systems
  • Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Proven leadership skills with a focus on developing and empowering teams
  • Understanding of Lean methodology or continuous improvement principles (preferred)
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach and commitment to operational excellence
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
