Job Description

Ready to take ownership of a full production shift in a business that lives and breathes safety and quality? At A-SAFE, our Production Shift Manager keeps manufacturing running safely, smoothly and efficiently. You will lead supervisors and production teams, manage workflows to hit targets, and make sure every product is made to spec, correctly packaged, labelled and stored. You will also set the standard for best practice on shift, ensuring processes are followed and performance stays on track.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead a safe, compliant shift by enforcing H&S standards, challenging unsafe behaviours, logging QSHE observations and keeping 5S and housekeeping at a consistently high level
  • Protect product quality by monitoring operator and supervisor performance, completing documents accurately, auditing processes on shift and putting in place effective containment actions when issues arise
  • Keep production running smoothly by owning the shift plan, monitoring lines and schedules, solving or escalating problems quickly and ensuring ERP transactions, logs and performance metrics are accurate and on time
  • Drive performance through data by running daily production meetings, delegating clearly, holding stakeholders accountable and recording, analysing and communicating shift results to the Production Manager
  • Improve how things are done by spotting and tackling production and quality problems, reducing waste and scrap, and actively pushing process improvements across all areas and other shifts
  • Keep standards clear and consistent by owning SOPs, helping to create and update them, making sure workstations are set up correctly and ensuring everyone follows the required procedures, including SQCDP
  • Build a capable, flexible team by checking the skills matrix, closing training gaps, keeping training and HR records up to date and making sure operators are trained for every task and product they handle
  • Lead your people with clarity and fairness by sharing shift and business updates, coaching for better performance and confidently handling return to work, investigation and disciplinary meetings when required

Requirements

  • Proven Manufacturing experience, including proven supervision of teams in a fast-paced production environment
  • Strong technical understanding of machinery and processes, able to spot and interpret extrusion or moulding faults and make sound decisions around safety, time and quality
  • A hands-on leader who motivates, guides and challenges the team, lives our values and is comfortable driving change and holding people to account
  • Confident problem solver, able to think under pressure and keep the shift on track when plans change
  • Highly organised, planning and prioritising work, managing shift cover and ensuring smooth handovers
  • Strong attention to detail, making sure standards, procedures, safety, quality and housekeeping are consistently met
  • Reliable and accountable, owning shift performance, meeting targets and supporting the wider operation
  • A team-focused mindset, building morale, developing people, constructively challenging other Shift Leaders and staying flexible during busy periods or staff shortages
