Job Description:

As a Shift Manager at 1X, you are the senior operational owner for an entire shift. You are responsible for end-to-end execution across multiple teams, including Robot Operators, Shift Supervisors, and Wrangler functions, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality operations throughout your shift. This is not a people-management-only role. You are accountable for throughput, uptime, quality signals, and operational stability during your shift, and for clean handoffs between shifts.

Job Responsibility:

  • Own end-to-end operational performance for your assigned shift (day or night)
  • Lead and coordinate multiple Shift Supervisors across robot operations and wrangling
  • Ensure robots, operators, and environments are staffed and ready for continuous operation
  • Act as the final escalation point for operational issues during your shift
  • Monitor key metrics including: Robot uptime and availability, Operator productivity and adherence to protocols, Data collection throughput and quality signals
  • Drive clear shift handoffs with documented status, issues, and priorities
  • Partner with Data QA, Logistics/Wrangling, and Engineering escalation paths as needed
  • Enforce safety, operational standards, and incident response procedures
  • Identify recurring issues and drive corrective actions across shifts
  • Support onboarding and ramp-up of supervisors as the organization scales
  • Provide structured feedback and improvement recommendations to Operations Leadership

Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience in operations leadership, production, logistics, or industrial environments
  • Prior responsibility for shift-based or 24/7 operations
  • Experience managing supervisors or team leads
  • Strong operational judgment and ability to make real-time decisions under pressure
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High standards for safety, quality, and accountability
  • Comfort working nights, weekends, and rotating Panama schedules

Nice to have:

  • Experience in robotics, manufacturing, warehouse, or mission-critical operations
  • Familiarity with operational metrics, dashboards, and incident management
