Job Description:

Shift Leader - Awake Night Duty position at Russets Respite Service, leading a small team of care assistants looking after physical, emotional, cultural and social needs of clients at night.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead a team of two-night care assistants
  • Ensure safety and wellbeing of individuals and security of premises
  • Make immediate decisions and contact emergency services/GP/out-of-hours services when necessary
  • Look after physical, emotional, cultural and social needs of clients at night times including personal care
  • Monitor care plans
  • Responsible for all aspects of Health & Safety
  • Administer medication when required
  • Demonstrate good working practices during night shift
  • Maintain accurate records of all clients and building related issues
  • Hand over to manager/senior at end of shift
  • Look after needs of diverse group of service users with wide range of care needs including challenging behaviour

Requirements:

  • Experience of working with people with a learning disability
  • Appropriate NVQ Level 3 qualification (or working towards)
  • Understanding of Adult Protection Policy and Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults
  • Ability to respect and acknowledge difference whilst empowering service users
  • Ability to act calm and focused with good listening skills
  • Ability to make decisions
  • Ability to plan, lead, support and collaborate well
  • Experience with administration of medication (or willing to gain)
  • Ability to maintain accurate records
  • Ability to liaise with a variety of stakeholders
  • Understanding of client confidentiality and data protection
  • Pro-active in learning and developing yourself
