There’s a permanent opportunity for you here as a Shift Engineer to join our team on our one of our data centre contracts in Hayes, West London. Hours of Work: Continental Shift Pattern – 12 hours shifts, day and nights. Career Progression Route: From this role you could progress into a Supervisor position if desired.
Job Responsibility:
Receive electronically PPM instructions from Aurora and undertake all maintenance tasks following the designated instructions
Ensure all maintenance consumables are available and arrange replenishment of all items to ensure agreed stock levels are established
Complete all electronic and paper records such that an accurate Site Logbook record of all works remains on site for the Client’s information and approval
Be able to undertake any diagnostic analysis that the whole system may require
Undertake a visual condition inspection of all installed equipment and submit a written report of any items that appear to jeopardise any aspects of reliability
Enter into dialogue with the Client’s representative to ensure there are no outstanding issues and also to ensure the overall quality of service delivery
Carry out general maintenance and good housekeeping practices and plant room cleaning to ensure that the life expectancy of all installed equipment is maximised
Participate in Health & Safety Codes of Safe Working and other Environmental issues to ensure total compliance with Dalkia’s Health, Safety and Environmental Policy. Report any omissions or risks that might compromise a Safe Working Environment
If the appropriate report on the performance of any sub-contracted works is required. Attend to all reasonable emergency call-out requests as speedily as possible and maintain good communications with the Client regarding the progress of all outstanding works
Make recommendations to the Contract Management on matters concerning continuous improvement and “adding value” that may improve the productivity, costs, quality of service delivery, etc. of all work for which the Company has a responsibility
Complete all Dalkia maintenance tasks as generated by Dalkia Contract Support/Helpdesk
Complete any breakdowns as and when necessary
Ensure plant areas Dalkia is responsible for are always clean and tidy
Assume the role of HV AP for the site
Respond to clients’ requests promptly
Maintain all site records and logbooks
Requirements:
Experience as an Electrical Engineer in a data centre, critical environment, commercial building, industrial plant or similar technical setting
Hands-on experience working with electrical distribution systems, UPS systems, generators, switchgear, lighting circuits and associated control panels
Experience carrying out PPM and reactive maintenance on M&E plant and building services equipment
Familiarity with critical systems monitoring, including responding to alarms, reporting events and initiating escalation procedures
Experience working within permit-to-work and safe-system-of-work environments, including isolations and lock-off procedures
Previous work in shift-based operations, ideally within a 24/7 environment
Experience supporting or overseeing subcontractors undertaking technical work on electrical and mechanical systems
Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent in Electrical Engineering (essential)
City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline (essential)
2391 or equivalent qualifications in Inspection & Testing (desirable)
HV Authorised Person training or experience working around HV systems (desirable)
Mechanical / multi-skilled training (advantageous for supporting M&E plant)
First Aid at Work, Manual Handling, Permit-to-Work, and Health & Safety training (desirable
but will be provided)
Data centre–specific or critical environment training (e.g., DC operations, UPS/generator courses) advantageous but not essential
Experience using CAFM/CMMS systems for work order management, asset updates and shift reports (desirable)
Exposure to resilience-based engineering such as N+1, dual-path systems and high-availability operations (advantageous)
