Full-time Sheetmetal Worker position available with competitive salary. Work in a dynamic team in Sydney NSW. The Sheet Metal Worker is responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and installation of sheet metal products, primarily for HVAC ductwork and associated components. This role requires the ability to interpret technical drawings, operate fabrication machinery safely and efficiently, and produce high-quality work that meets precise specifications. The successful candidate will be a skilled tradesperson with a strong work ethic and a commitment to workplace health and safety.
Job Responsibility:
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine job requirements
Select appropriate sheet metal types and gauges (e.g., galvanised steel, stainless steel, aluminium)
Set up and operate fabrication machinery, including guillotines, press brakes, rollers, plasma cutters, and folders
Cut, bend, roll, and shape sheet metal to form components such as ducting, plenums, transitions, and fittings
Ensure all fabricated components meet required dimensions, tolerances, and quality standards
Assemble fabricated sheet metal components using techniques such as welding (MIG, TIG), riveting, soldering, and bolting
Fit and join parts to create finished products according to design specifications
Perform quality checks on assembled products to ensure structural integrity and accuracy
Assist with the installation of ductwork and other sheet metal components on-site
Ensure all installations are secure, sealed, and comply with project plans and industry standards
Perform routine maintenance on tools and machinery to ensure they are in safe and efficient working order
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work area in the workshop
Report any equipment faults or safety hazards to the Workshop Manager immediately
Adhere to all company WHS policies, procedures, and safe work practices at all times
Correctly use and maintain all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Actively participate in safety meetings, risk assessments, and hazard identification
Promote a culture of safety within the team
Requirements:
Certificate level or equivalent relevant work experience
Minimum one year of work experience on relevant position
Construction Induction Card (White Card)
Attention to Detail: Meticulous and precise in all aspects of work to ensure high-quality outcomes
Problem-Solving: Ability to identify issues with designs or materials and find practical solutions
Technical Aptitude: Strong understanding of metal properties, fabrication techniques, and machinery operation
Time Management: Ability to manage workload effectively, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines
Teamwork: Works collaboratively and communicates effectively with colleagues, apprentices, and supervisors
Work Ethic: Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated with a positive attitude
