Job Description:

This is a vacancy for a Shared Lives Carer in Torbay. The carer would support someone of any age group who would enjoy living in a family environment, or in a 'Just Next Door' bedsitting room, to build on their independence. The role involves living with or near the carer's household, which includes the carer, one young man, and a British bulldog. The carer has 8 years of experience and a family background in Shared Lives care.

Job Responsibility:

Support someone to live as independently as they are able
Help people learn new skills and try new things
Work with people on daily living and towards or maintaining independence
Help other people realise their full potential by learning or developing their skills
Provide fun short breaks for individuals

Requirements:

Experience as a carer
Experience working with people with additional support needs
Experience in day service settings or as an Independent Living Officer
Skills to work with people on daily living and towards or maintaining independence
Ability to be safe at home alone for up to 5 hours
A degree of mobility due to stairs
Alignment with personal values regarding language and relationships in the house

Nice to have:

Experience supporting someone to move on to a more independent setting
Experience as a Shared Lives Carer
Experience living with people who had additional support needs
