Job Description:

The Shared Lab Technician will be responsible for managing and maintaining the lab environment, including hardware configuration, system setup, and network settings. This role demands hands-on expertise in test system hardware assembly, troubleshooting, and configuration, as well as the ability to ensure seamless lab operations and network connectivity. The Lab Technician will collaborate with engineers, developers, and operations teams to support testing, prototyping, and development activities. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented technician with a passion for hands-on work and the ability to manage complex hardware and network configurations in a lab environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assemble, configure, and maintain test systems, including servers, peripherals, and other hardware components
  • Set up and calibrate hardware systems to meet project specifications and testing requirements
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware issues, including hardware failures and compatibility challenges
  • Maintain inventory of lab hardware and components and ensure proper documentation of system configurations
  • Manage day-to-day lab operations, ensuring a clean, organized, and safe workspace
  • Oversee the installation, maintenance, and regular inspection of lab equipment and tools
  • Provide technical support for engineers using the lab for testing and prototyping
  • Set up and configure lab network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and servers
  • Monitor and troubleshoot network connectivity issues within the lab environment
  • Assist in the execution of hardware and system tests, including functional, performance, and stress testing
  • Support engineers and developers in configuring test environments for specific projects
  • Perform routine maintenance of lab systems and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and uptime
  • Identify opportunities to improve lab workflows and systems for increased efficiency
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies in hardware, systems, and networking
  • Maintain detailed records of hardware configurations, network setups, and lab procedures
  • Generate reports on lab activities, hardware usage, and network performance
  • Ensure proper labeling and organization of hardware, cables, and network devices

Requirements:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 4+ years of experience in hardware configuration, lab operations, and network setup
  • Strong knowledge of hardware configuration, including servers, peripherals, and test equipment
  • Experience in system setup, calibration, and troubleshooting of hardware systems
  • Proficiency in configuring and managing network devices (routers, switches, access points, etc.)
  • Understanding of TCP/IP protocols, network topology, and basic network troubleshooting techniques
  • Familiarity with lab equipment and tools, including oscilloscopes, UPS, and PDUs
  • Experience in managing lab operations, inventory, and maintenance schedules
  • Knowledge of lab safety protocols and procedures
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for identifying and resolving hardware and network issues
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and support diverse teams with technical challenges
  • Proficiency in documenting hardware configurations, network setups, and testing procedures
