We are looking for dedicated, experienced professionals to join our team as a Sexual Offence Nurse at Spring Lodge, Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC). This is a vital role in providing essential care, support, and forensic examinations for victims of sexual assault and rape during a time of great vulnerability. About Spring Lodge SARC: Located in Lincoln, Spring Lodge operates 24/7, 365 days a year, with a committed team of on-call Crisis Workers and Sexual Offence Examiners. Our mission is to deliver trauma-informed, high-quality care to those who need it most.
Job Responsibility:
Conducting forensic examinations of victims of rape and sexual assault, adhering to PHL Health, FFLM, NMC, and FSR guidelines
Attending the SARC or other venues within an agreed timeframe when requested by the PHL Health call centre
Practicing autonomously, making independent and objective clinical decisions within professional guidelines and Codes of Conduct
Treating all clients with dignity, respect, and empathy, ensuring they feel supported throughout their care journey
Collaborating with Crisis Workers and specially trained officers to ensure the service is tailored to each client’s needs
Obtaining informed consent for all procedures and ensuring all actions are documented in line with local guidelines
Collecting forensic samples and documenting injuries in compliance with FFLM standards, maintaining the chain of evidence
Performing risk assessments for pregnancy, STIs, blood-borne viruses, mental health, and safeguarding
Managing referrals to Safeguarding and Mental Health teams and providing urgent onward referrals when necessary
Administering medication under PHL Health PGDs
Completing all necessary documentation, including FFLM Proforma and Aftercare Forms
Writing Police statements and attending court when requested as a professional witness
Participating in ongoing training and development, including quarterly peer supervision, appraisals, and reflective practice
Requirements:
Experience as an Autonomous Practitioner
In-depth knowledge of Safeguarding and experience working with vulnerable groups
Strong communication skills, both written and oral
Experience in Forensic Examination and Medical Aftercare of sexual assault victims
Competence in Venepuncture and Speculum Examination
Professional, non-judgmental approach with excellent documentation skills
Ability to pass an enhanced DBS check and NPPV Level 2 vetting
Nice to have:
Experience in Sexual Health or Women’s Health
Awareness of Forensic Best Practices
Previous experience in Statement Writing and Giving of Evidence
