This role is offered on a part time basis of 20 hours per week, this means that candidates interested in working part time are encouraged to apply and will receive a salary on a pro rata basis. Part time - up to 20 hours per week worked between Monday to Friday to meet service need (plus Saturday mornings on rotation once trained, every 1-2 months). An exciting opportunity has arisen for a current Sexual Health Adviser to further enhance sexual health provision provided by Swindon Sexual Health Department.
Job Responsibility:
Deliver, support, advice, information, education and health promotion to patients attending the sexual health department, including those diagnosed with sexually transmitted infections
Provide specialist support to clinical colleagues for patients with more complex needs
Coordinate the management, delivery and follow-up of positive results
Assess psychosocial needs
Offer crisis intervention to patients facing sensitive or challenging circumstances
Work across other sites as service needs dictate
Requirements:
Degree or Diploma in Nursing (Registered Nurse First Level)
CQSW / Diploma in Social Work
relevant degree in psychology, health, science, social sciences, health promotion or education
Substantial post qualification professional experience
Experience of working within a sexual health service or related clinical setting
Demonstrable counselling skills with patients, delivered face to face and/or remotely
Experience of delivering sexual health education and health promotion to individuals and groups
Proven experience of effective multi-disciplinary team working
Experience of assessing and managing safeguarding concerns involving young people and vulnerable adults
Experience of delivering high standards of patient centered care
Experience of working with individuals presenting with diverse and complex needs
Experience of working in a complex healthcare environment
Current UK professional registration
Nice to have:
A counselling qualification at certificate level
A relevant postgraduate qualification relevant to the role e.g. a MSc in counseling, health promotion or public health
Sexual and reproductive health BASHH competencies
Previous experience in a Health Adviser role
Experience of teaching, training or lecturing
Experience of working under patient group directions (PGDs)
Working knowledge of legal and ethical frameworks governing confidentiality in Sexual Health services
