We have a vacancy for a Settlement Analyst to join our team in Melbourne. This role is crucial to the financial integrity of our operations, ensuring that the complex value generated by our trading strategies is accurately captured, reconciled, and settled. You will be the bridge between market operations and financial outcomes, managing the end-to-end settlement process for NEM market transactions, LGC creation, and bespoke contract arrangements like PPAs and Virtual Tolls. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional who thrives in the intersection of energy markets and financial data. You will work closely with our traders, clients, finance and technical teams to ensure that our automated systems and manual processes result in precise financial reporting and compliance. Job Responsibility:
Reconciliation & Dispute Management: Identifying discrepancies between internal trading data and AEMO/Counterparty statements
documenting and submitting formal disputes to ensure financial accuracy
Settlement Performance Reporting: Delivery or weekly and monthly reports to clients on asset performance, actual trading revenues (market or contract), and warranty conditions. Performance monitoring of trading outcomes and client portfolios. Analysis of the NEM to understand fundamental drivers of market characteristics
Client Portal Data Delivery: Partnering to scope and define data requirements for the client portal, ensuring that settlement data and performance reports are delivered accurately and intuitively to meet client needs and maintain high levels of user satisfaction
Data Integrity: Maintaining and updating internal systems that handle metering data and settlement calculations to ensure they reflect the latest market rules and contract terms
Stakeholder Communication: Providing clear updates to clients regarding their financial obligations, call notices, and the financial impacts of settlement outcomes
Audit Preparation: Maintaining meticulous records of settlement activities and LGC deliveries for regulatory audits and compliance reviews
Asset Onboarding Coordination: Leading the settlement and reporting workstream for onboarding new assets
collaborating with internal and external teams to collect and validate site connection details, operational parameters, and registration information required for market participation
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Settlement Analyst, Billing Analyst, or in a similar financial operations role within the energy or commodities sector
Strong understanding of the Australian National Electricity Market (NEM), including AEMO settlement cycles and prudential requirements, AEMO’s MMS portal and MarketNet systems
Strong Analytical Skills: Proficiency in Excel and data management tools
ability to perform complex reconciliations across disparate data sources. Comfortable working with analysis packages that are python based. Capability to query relational databases and visualise results in business intelligence tools
Attention to Detail: A rigorous approach to accuracy, especially when dealing with high-value financial transactions and regulatory deadlines
Stakeholder Management: Ability to communicate technical financial discrepancies clearly to both internal traders and external client counterparts
Familiarity with Software Development: Comfortable working with technical teams to improve settlement automation and reporting tools (experience with JIRA is a plus)
Nice to have:
Experience with PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) structures and virtual tolling arrangements
Experience with Environmental Markets, specifically the creation, registration, and transfer of LGCs via the REC Registry
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or Engineering
Experience with project management, operations or financing for renewables, battery storage and hybrid assets in the NEM
