Job Description

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Service Manager to join our Surgery and Critical Care team. You will support the Deputy Divisional Managers in the planning, delivery, and performance monitoring of all surgical services, including the management of the paediatric intensive care unit, neonatal intensive care unit, and the Embrace paediatric transfer service.

Job Responsibility

  • Operationally manage surgical services within the Care Group
  • Manage performance to ensure the achievement of national and local goals
  • Oversee clinical and non-clinical planning, project management, and development of business cases
  • Work with Care Group teams to ensure efficient resource utilisation and service delivery
  • Help develop systems to measure departmental performance

Requirements

  • First Degree or equivalent relevant professional qualification
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
  • Proven management experience in a complex organisation
  • A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of current national health policies and key issues in the NHS e.g. access and cancer targets, payment by results, patient choice and involvement
  • A thorough knowledge of the environment in which the Trust operates including structural, financial and capacity issues, both internal and external to the NHS
