Job Description

A Children’s Service Leader oversees the day‑to‑day coordination, quality, and consistency of support provided to children and young people across assigned services. They lead and coach Support Workers, ensuring that trauma‑informed and therapeutic practices are embedded in everyday routines and interactions. Their core purpose is to create safe, stable, and developmentally supportive environments where children and young people can thrive.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead, mentor, and coach Support Workers to deliver high‑quality, trauma‑informed care
  • Oversee the smooth operation of assigned services, ensuring routines and processes are followed
  • Monitor service quality and ensure supports align with organisational expectations and legislative requirements
  • Respond to day‑to‑day issues, risks, and needs within the service environment
  • Ensure each child or young person receives safe, developmentally appropriate, and therapeutic support
  • Guide staff in implementing behaviour support strategies and trauma‑informed approaches
  • Promote positive outcomes through structured routines, emotional safety, and meaningful engagement
  • Maintain clear, timely communication across the team, with other Aruma departments, and with external stakeholders
  • Provide accurate updates on daily activities, incidents, progress, and service needs
  • Support collaborative relationships with families, carers, caseworkers, and allied professionals
  • Contribute to continuous improvement across services
  • Regular travel between service locations is required to provide onsite leadership, coaching, and operational oversight

  • Relevant tertiary qualification/s i.e., Diploma in Child, Youth & Family Intervention, Cert IV in Child Youth & Family Intervention or equivalent
  • Hold current or willingness to obtain relevant regulatory requirements (as per role and/or State)

  • Enthusiastic team player, eager to collaborate and inspire
