Join Potters Bar as the Service Lead to take senior clinical responsibility for the day-to-day running of our Adult Acute and CYMHS Low Secure Services, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and responsive care for every service user. In this pivotal role, you will provide visible, expert clinical leadership across both service areas, maintaining a strong presence for staff and supporting high-quality practice in and out of hours. You’ll oversee rota planning for all four wards, ensuring safe staffing levels at all times, and you’ll drive a culture of clinical excellence—embedding strong standards, supporting professional development, and championing continuous improvement in care delivery. You will play a key role in managing referrals, reviewing clinical information in a timely, responsive manner to support safe admission decisions. You’ll lead clinical audits, analyse findings, and implement action plans that elevate practice and strengthen the service. As part of your leadership responsibilities, you will also participate in the on-call rota and complete out-of-hours visits when required, supporting the service to run safely 24/7. *This role includes an on-call rota during evenings and weekends
Job Responsibility:
Provide visible, expert clinical leadership across Adult Acute and CYMHS Low Secure Services
Oversee rota planning for all four wards, ensuring safe staffing levels at all times
Drive a culture of clinical excellence—embedding strong standards, supporting professional development, and championing continuous improvement in care delivery
Manage referrals, reviewing clinical information in a timely, responsive manner to support safe admission decisions
Lead clinical audits, analyse findings, and implement action plans that elevate practice and strengthen the service
Participate in the on-call rota and complete out-of-hours visits when required
Ensuring that all HR policies are adhered to by staff and take action to remedy concerns in a timely manner
Ensuring that all dashboards, related to their area of accountability are maintained as up to date for reporting purposes
Overseeing and report that all staff within their sphere of accountability are receiving supervision in line with contractual obligations and Elysium Policy and that all appraisals are completed on a rolling annual basis
Undertaking audits, in line with the requirements of contractual obligations and Elysium’s Clinical audit group and ensure action plans are developed and then monitor the plan, to ensure standards are improved
Monitoring clinical documentation to ensure standards are being met and maintained, by monitoring carenotes entries, IRIS compliance and ward round documentation, to ensure it is all encompassing and reflects clinical activity
Demonstrating a culture of enquiry and learning from any adverse events, to ensure that staff are practising safely as new information is available
Overseeing that all patients have relevant in date plans of care, which are person centred and promote recovery
Ensuring that records are at all times, contemporaneous, accurate and in line with GPDR requirements and that any risks related to patient care, are clearly documented and address short-coming as they arise
Ensuring that patients have clear plans of care for the physical and psychological care and that these are maintained accurately and reviewed in a timely manner and based on the presentation of the patient
At times, the Service lead will be asked to complete investigations into clinical practice and provide an investigation report in line with Elysium’s policies and procedures
Maintaining compliance with CQC and Safeguarding reporting at all times
Requirements:
Registered Qualified Nurse with at least 5 years experience
Worked in a clinical setting that provides CYPMH Services for 2 years
Professional qualification that supports clinical management
Interest in the sector and identification with the common values and aims of the service/group
Emphasis on the achievement of results and both the energy and enthusiasm to ensure that objectives are met
Initiative and leadership skills and the ability to gain the trust, commitment and cooperation of others
Understanding of clinical concerns, including the understanding of treatments and evolving medical technologies
