The role of HSE Site Officer, directly supports the company’s mission to develop and deliver clean power plants that make 100% renewable energy a reality for the world. As the As a Service HSE Site Officer for Special Projects, you will be responsible, during specific activities at projects during Operation & Maintenance (O&M) phase for daily HSE representation, in particular at Service site(s) with Major Correctives assigned where the wind farms are located and also in respect to the personnel employed in that context (site managers, service technicians, engineers, crane contractors, and other subcontractors, etc.).
Job Responsibility:
Works to maintain global alignment for HSE Management Systems and daily HSE activities
Supports cross-functional teams in the planning, facilitation, and completion of HSE projects
Works with functional leaders to review analytical data of HSE-related incidents
Interfaces with clients and customers as needed in a manner that reflects positively on the company
Supports HSE Director and Officers with direction to assure that a system is in place to monitor compliance with applicable federal, state, local regulations during the O&M phase of operations
Interprets and implements the Global HSE requirements
Work in conjunction with HSE team(s) to implement policies and procedures at the site level
Creates records and reports for functional management areas indicating results and conclusions with appropriate recommendations for organizational implementation
Provides functional guidance to assist with process controls using Root Cause Analysis (RCA/8D) methods and proactive analytical problem solving for project management activities
Liaises with our Supply/Engineering/Purchasing/Regional HSE team regarding daily issues
Requirements:
BA/BS Degree in HSE, Engineering, Business, or equivalent work experience
Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certifies Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), or equivalent professional designation preferred
Experience with programmatic (Compliance and Performance) audits/inspections including record keeping, and action-item resolution
Experience establishing, managing, and leading cross-functional teams
Minimum 4 years of progressively responsible experience in an HSE department with a background in electrical safety and O&M HSE operations
wind farm experience desirable
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and intercultural skills
Be highly motivated, business-oriented, and used to work independently
Knowledge of HSE disciplines (General Industry, Construction, and Behavior-Based Safety, etc.)
Extensive knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001 / OHSAS 18001 is a plus
Proven interpersonal, verbal/written communication, negotiation, leadership, organizational skills, and a pro-active attitude
Must be comfortable dealing with a strong management team and to positively influence when necessary
Ability to balance/maintain conflicting goals, responsibilities, and priorities of the organization
Must possess the ability to analyze situations in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrated ability to manage several activities/projects at once, organize/prioritize work, meet deadlines, and prepares plans and reports
Basic knowledge of the technical aspects driving the wind industry would be advantageous
Proficiency in the following application programs: Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat Standard, and similar applications
Comply with all applicable regional and local HSE regulations, including customer-specific guidelines
Cooperate with the site manager and report to HSE Regional Officer directly for management/supervision
Provide regular updating of appropriate documentation and for liaising local, regional, and global teams
Certified OSHA 500 or 501 trainer preferred
Must be able and willing to travel (Approximately 100%)
Must have a valid driver’s license and be eligible to hold a U.S. Passport
Driving is an essential function of the job. Must possess a full valid driver’s license and be insurable under our auto insurance policy. This position will be subject to periodic driver’s abstract checks to confirm continued insurability
Ability to meet specific OSHA and ANSI weight limits of 265 lbs. or less
Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical administered by a medical examiner to ensure the ability to safely perform job functions and meet the physical demands of the position
Demonstrate a strong understanding of and commitment to safety protocols and procedures
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies
Proactively identify and mitigate potential safety hazards
Properly use applicable safety equipment, including but not limited to eye protection, hearing protectors, steel-toe boots, and hard hats. Loose-fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted
Communicate effectively with team members and management to ensure a safe working environment
Speak and understand English fluently to effectively communicate safety and job-related information, follow safety instructions, and collaborate with English-speaking supervisors and team members.
