As a Physical Security Systems Service Engineer, you will work closely with other internal and external teams to help build a reliable, stable, high performance, core infrastructure platform to host highly critical systems and physically secure Datacenters globally. The Physical Security Systems Service Engineer will partner across multiple efforts to develop and drive the overall design, development, and operational maturity of our core infrastructure environment. This opportunity will allow you to learn physical security systems, experience in administrating/working in a large hybrid cloud environment, and about how what we do can change the world. This opportunity is also flexible with work hours and supports full /partial work from home. Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a Physical Security Systems Service Engineer you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform.
Job Responsibility:
Develop a foundational understanding of physical access control service and system design, interactions between technology layers and components, functions of infrastructure, and dependencies at scale
Contribute to the identification and recommendation of optimal configurations of technology components, adjust configurations, and define infrastructures to improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and/or performance of supported services
Share learnings and recommendations across engineering teams working on related services and invest time and effort to improve knowledge and contribute to the adoption of new solutions
Assist in the implementation of reliable, scalable, high-performance solutions to support highly critical physical security systems
Contribute to the design and implementation of those systems and maintain quality control documentation in partnership with fellow engineers
Respond to incidents during regular on-call rotations, alert stakeholders to major impacting issues, escalate resolution of complex or multi-component problems to fellow engineers, and ensure details related to incident resolution are shared
Develop an understanding of security, privacy, and compliance standards in alignment with direction from the business and technical experts
Partner with security, privacy, and compliance teams to identify, address, and develop guidance on issues relevant to their services, ensuring information is shared and dependencies managed across disciplines promptly

Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 1+ year(s) technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, or systems engineering OR equivalent experience
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Experience and understanding of large-scale applications portfolio in an enterprise-wide environment (including migration of on-premises workload to the cloud, hybrid environments, multi-tenant environments)
