The Serology Lab Technician is responsible for testing blood and other samples for viral and bacterial disease by detecting antibodies (AB) or antigens (AG). The Serology PCR Technician examines samples for specific substances using molecular diagnostic methods.
Job Responsibility:
Perform and analyze results for both PCR and non-PCR tests as required
reads and releases test results
tests performed may be more complex
exercises judgment in evaluating and reporting results
performs equipment maintenance
find missing specimens
print and reconcile queue list
library all samples
maintain all departmental equipment
follows applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), including safety and quality procedures
maintains clean and organized work area
restocks supplies as needed
participates in improving lab efficiency, quality, and cooperation
performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
High school or equivalent required
bachelor's degree in science preferred
prior lab experience preferred
laboratory skills, with experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests and operating lab instruments
general science background
attention to detail and organized with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
ability to work independently and as part of a team
solid communication skills- written and verbal
proficiency in the English language which allows for participation in team meetings, accurate entry of data into company systems and understanding of written direction
positive, can-do attitude
personal computer skills, including strong typing ability and proficient use of Microsoft Office
